This Australian book was written by people who run their own small businesses and have either owned and run a vairiety of small businesses or been closely involved with them.
Geoffrey Heard is the owner of Worsley Press, a small business publisher and bookseller. After a career in journalism, Heard has most recently worked as a small business marketing and advertising consultant, working mainly with small retail businesses.
Gordon Woolf learned about retail in after-school hours in London's East End. At 15 he was running a greengrocery and he worked on market stalls and in bands while starting out in journalism. In Australia, he held a half share in a bookshop in Kings Cross and later a convenience store in a rural town.
The first edition of this book sold out - this is th updated, second edition, which includes a whole new chapter - hands-on advice on how to advertise and promote your store using real world examples. It makes for a practical handbook to starting a store or buying a store, any other kind of retail business - even a market stall - enjoy running it and make money - by people who have done it and helped others do it.
