Detailed description:"For the first time, the amazing world of the NEO has been opened up. Honeywill and Byth understand better than anyone else how the consumer revolution is changing Australia," - Robert Gottliebsen, The Australian.
Founded on vast consumer research, this book reveals startling evidence of how four million Australians are transforming the social and political landscape around us. Authors Ross Honeywill and Verity Blyth argue that labels like 'generation X', 'generation Y', and 'baby boomers' don't adequately describe desires or explain how and why people behave as they do, as workers, consumers or homemakers.
Honeywill and Blyth endeavored to find a solution to this problem, dedicating five years to survey hundreds of thousands of respondents, during which they examined more than 2000 social and behavioural characteristics.
What they discovered was a new economic order which they named Neo. The term describes a 'new breed' of people who are better educated, vote for the Coalition but prefer Labor's progressive social views, like football but love the arts, dominate the internet, believe food is a celebration of the day, and importantly for retailers, earn more, spend more and expect more. As consumers they love authenticity, change, quality, technology and luxury.
